HOLIDAY GREETINGS!
From Roberta F. Palestine, M.D.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.

Looking back at the year 2009 from a dermatologic viewpoint, I’d like to highlight a few exciting advances!  We now have Dysport™, an excellent alternative to Botox®. We also have some very effective new chemical peels. And especially exciting is the new laser Zerona®, which melts away fat with no pain and no downtime!

Also in 2009, our medical spa got a facelift, expansion and a new name – DerMediSpa has become Rockledge Med Spa!  Please come visit us, have a cup of tea, and see our updated results-oriented menu of services.

I want to remind you to ALWAYS wear sunscreen, year round, no matter what the weather!

So come find out about the latest cosmetic options, and remember to schedule your annual skin exams.

Happy Holidays,
Roberta Palestine, MD

WINTER SKIN CARE
Winter is especially hard on your skin and the extreme temperature changes are a part of winter you can’t avoid; however there are a few key things you can do to protect and nourish your skin this winter.

Your face, hands and body are susceptible to drier skin in the winter from many factors such as hot showers or baths, changing from the outside cold air to the drying indoor air and even the effects of a warm, cracking fire. To help your skin, your best defense is to Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!!

HANDS: Since the skin on your hands is thinner and there are fewer oil glands than other parts of the body, they are more likely to get dry and chapped. Always apply moisturizer on your hands in the morning and night but also put a small sized moisturizer in your car, purse or desk drawer.

FACE: Your face gets the most exposure and of course shows the effects of winter and aging more readily than any other body part, so a quality face (and neck) moisturizer as well as a sunscreen is essential. Wind, sun and cold air zap the moisture from your skin, so a morning and night ritual is recommended.

BODY: A nice, long hot bath or shower is a great indulgence but it can wreak havoc on your skin. Hot water tends to reduce the natural oils in your skin so using warm water is a better choice. The ideal shower or bath should be 5-10 minutes and for best results, a full body moisturizer should be applied within 3 minutes of bathing.

LOSE 2-7 DRESS SIZES BY NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Zerona® is a non-invasive, low level laser with no downtime, no pain and no surgery which targets your problem areas and reduces your fat cells in just two weeks. Really! As seen on The Doctor, Rachel Ray, CBS Early show and more, the Zerona laser painlessly causes fat cells under the skin to release their contents and then the natural detoxification system eliminates the fat from your body. Results vary, but the average patient sees a loss of 3-9 inches in the areas treated. The most commonly treated areas are the stomach, hips and thighs.

EYE REJUVENATION

To help your eyes be their very best and brightest for this holiday season, we have combined two fantastic products to lengthen and darken your lashes and firm up the delicate skin around your eyes.

Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream fills in the missing piece of the anti-aging puzzle and helps to improve elasticity for firmer, more youthful-looking skin. This cream works at night when your body naturally repairs and provides a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by allowing for the natural replenishment of elastin and collagen. Apply in the morning as well.

LATISSE® solution is used to grow eyelashes for individuals with inadequate eyelashes to make them thick, long, and dark. It is a prescription only solution that interacts with the growth cycle of the eyelash hairs to increase the growth period and the number of hairs growing. To see the dramatic results click here.

If purchased separately, the regular price is $215, but you can save $40 through 12/31/09. On Sale for $175
